We are a team of faculty at Iowa State University whose diverse research programs have led us to an interest on the communication of scientific information in policy controversies. We are communication scholars studying public discourse, philosophers focused on critical thinking, psychologists of the persuasive process, and scientists with a practical interest in communicating their knowledge to policy-makers and the public.

This website summarizes some of the activities we’ll be undertaking over the next few years to deepen our understanding of the communication of science in policy controversies, to expand the range of communication education and training programs available to scientists, and to create nationally and at ISU an interdisciplinary conversation on science in democratic life.
